Everest is the story of Anjali, 21 years old, the only daughter of an Army officer, Jagat Singh Rawat, 50, who wanted a son all his life. He believes only sons can bring honour to their family name.
Anjali craves her father’s love. But her father only ignores her, angry with his wife, Sarita, 45, for giving him a daughter. Sarita always tries to shield her daughter from her husband’s hatred and does not support her husband’s views.
Anjali is an intelligent girl who excels in studies and in sports. She is extremely focused and once she sets her goal, there is no turning back for her. She decides to make her father proud by fulfilling his unaccomplished dream and that is – to climb Mount Everest! With secret support from her mother and moral support from her best friend she embarks on this ‘Himalayan’ task!
Anjali first enrolls herself in a mountaineering institute where she comes across a varied palate of characters starting with the institute head – Abhyankar, 55, who had conquered the peak five times and then hung his boots when he lost his wife during the descent. Abhyankar is compassionate towards the passion of Anjali and decides to help her in her quest – one last time!
This expedition is sponsored by Ramesh Roongta, 55, CEO of Century Corp. who is planning a huge publicity campaign to revamp the company’s image by doing something that has never been done in the Indian market. He is an opportunist and a shrewd guy who knows how to exploit people for his own ambitions.
His company Century Corp. is looking for a paradigm shift in the way their investors look at the company for which they have zeroed in on Arjun Sabharwal, 25, to be that new face.
Arjun, who possesses an air of arrogance, has already conquered three major peaks across the world and now he will have to take his passion to the highest level - Mount Everest! Roongta not only sponsors Arjun’s climb, but also offers him a two-year contract to be the Brand Ambassador for Century Corp. across the world... if Arjun summited Everest.
And to capture Arjun’s journey on camera, the company hires Aakaash Joshi, 25, a video journalist known as a dare devil, specializing in adventurous jobs, always landing up covering the most tricky and risky stories. Aakaash has still not recovered from the death of his parents in an accident when he was 11 years old. He had lived with his uncle till he started earning. He values the concept of family as if he has none of his own. That is why Anjali's quest becomes especially important to him.
Chand, 28, who gets a 'high', pun intended, every time he goes up on a mountain and Tashi Tenzing, 40, who had been on the summit once and will do it now only if he gets paid for it, are both brought in by Abhyankar.
Everest is the story of these seven individuals who come together and embark on this perilous journey to the top of the world. How their life transforms under the shadow of the mighty Everest is what forms the basis of this action-filled adventure drama.
